After a disastrous start to the road trip, losing 7-1 to Bakersfield, the Rampage will look to rebound with the first of back-to-back games against a well rested San Jose team. The Rampage were never in the game against the Condors falling behind by a pair of goals in the first period. Bakersfield added two more in the middle frame, prematurely ending Spencer Martin’s fourth consecutive start. The home team then added three more against Nathan Lieuwen in the third. Rookie JT Compher scored the lone Rampage goal, a power play tally, late in the game. AJ Greer picked up an assist keeping allowing him to stay atop the rookie scoring leaderboard.
Today will be San Jose’s 5th game of the season, the fewest in the league, and a product of the wonky AHL schedule that sees the California 5 (now plus one) play less games than the rest of the league. The Rampage meanwhile, have played two games since San Jose last played and haven’t looked good in the process.
