The San Antonio Rampage needed a bounceback win in a big way after the loss to Grand Rapids on Wednesday. Friday night, they faced a young and skilled Rockford team on the road and got a lot of help.
Aided by ten power plays, the Rampage tied a franchise record, scoring four power play goals en route to a 6-0 whitewashing of the IceHogs. David Warsofsky scored twice–his first goals of the season–and Jordan Schmaltz and newest Rampage forward Vladislav Kamenev each added three assists in the blowout win.
The Rampage also got goals from Andrew Agozzino (5), Chris Butler (1), Mason Geertsen (2), and Reid Petryk (2) in the victory.
Meanwhile, Spencer Martin was brilliant once again, stopping all 39 Rockford shots, earning his 6th career shutout and first of this season.
The Rampage (8-3-1) went 4/10 with the man advantage and were 5/5 on the PK.

The Good
- The Rampage Special Teams bounced back from a dismal effort in Grad Rapids, tying a franchise record for power play goals (4) and going 5-5 on the PK.
- Spencer Martin was better than good, earning his 6th career shutout and stopping 39 shots, 30 of which came in the final two periods.
- David Warsofsky, brought in to be a power play specialist picked up his first two goals in a Rampage sweater, both on the power play.
The Bad
- It’s never a good thing when your team allows 39 shots on goal and tonight was no exception. The one saving grace being that the score effect machine was in full force with the Rampage jumping out to a 3-0 first period lead.
- In a 6-0 game, Joe Colborne did nothing. Nada. No shots, no penalties, zilch.
The Ugly
- In an already decided game, the referee duo of Alex Garon and Corey Syrvet pulled off the unthinkable. The pair disallowed a seventh Rampage goal–which would’ve set the franchise record for most PP goals in a game (5)–about 30 seconds after the Rampage scored. After a missed call on Jesse Graham, the Rampage controlled the puck, eventually leading to a Tage Thompson goal. After a lengthy discussion, the refs decided to go ahead and call the penalty after-the-fact, wiping the goal out.
