Avalanche Make First Cuts; 11 Assigned to Rampage

With the Avalanche’s preseason slate set to kick off on Tuesday, the Rampage’s NHL affiliate made their first round of cuts this afternoon, reducing their roster to 44. Eleven of the players released are headed to San Antonio for training camp, which kicks off this weekend.

LW – Troy Bourke

LW  – Trevor Cheek

LW – Michael Schumacher*

RW – Daniel Maggio*

C – Samuel Henley

C – Garrett Meurs

C – Reid Petryk*

D – Cody Corbett

D – Justin Hamonic*

D – Hubert Labrie*

G – Spencer Martin

* Denotes AHL Contract

Every player listed with the exception of Hamonic, Labrie, and Martin spent a portion, or all, of last season with the Lake Erie Monsters. Hamonic and Martin are both entering their first season as pros and Labrie is an AHL/ECHL journeyman with stops in Texas and Springfield of the AHL and ECHL Idaho.

The Rampage will open training camp this weekend and kick off their own slate of preseason games in Cedar Park on Oct. 2nd. The regular season begins on Oct 10th against the Stars and the home opener is Oct 24th against the Stockton Heat.
